.... and then there were 4

What an interesting ride tonight.  We started with Matt, Jay, Mark, Ian, Liam, Craig, and Rob.  As for tonight's route, Matt had other things in mind.  Matt wanted to just hills at Malden.  Since Jay doesn't do hills we opted for Brunet Park.  Bye Matt.  The west side of the park was decent.  The east side sucked.  A lot of purposely downed trees as well as many naturally downed trees.  And then the fun began.  Jeremy, despite all his P90X workouts, could not keep up in the technical singletrack and became lost.  A massive search party was mounted to no avail.  At this point Liam decided that he had better options for the evening and he left us.  Bye Liam.  We decided that maybe we should head over to Malden to meet up with Matt and maybe Jeremy.  On route, the skies became very overcast and a storm was brewing.  Mark decided that our safety was more important than finding Matt or Jeremy.  We returned to our cars.  Ian opted to continue riding home.  Bye Ian.  So this leaves just four of us to sit in Mark's garage and enjoy Jeremy's beer.
Shortly after settling in, we were joined by Matt and Jeremy.  Jeremy claims that he thought that we took off on him (he obviously doesn't know our motto.... no man left behind, unless it is Ali).  Jeremy clearly did not appreciate the effort that was mounted to find him and in the end scuttled our ride.  There was much talk tonight about who actually earned a point. Matt?  Did he really go to Malden?  Or did he just go home for a nap?  And was Jeremy in on this?  Liam?  He rode only 1/2 hour.
Mark is away next week so he will have to swap with Dave in beer order.  So Dave you are up next and if you can't do it, then Rob.  Jeremy seems to be running away with attendance (as well as his riding group).  Ali was a no-show again tonight, although he did leave a bag of chips for his half point.
As per tradition, rides will now leave at 6 PM.  Also, many stores have sales now on lights(REI, MEC).  Get some!  We will be needing them soon.  See everyone at Jacques Gone Wild this weekend.... except for Patti... I mean Rob.

  1. Halarious. I may have not expressed this tonight, but I am thankful you guys looked for me.... while I was riding hard through these "dark skies" you talked about to Malden to catch a few laps with Matt, who was in fact there. Maybe I'll take a few weeks off and let you guys catch up in attendance......... nah, on the other hand I'll just keep pulling away!

And how the hell does "leaving a bag of chips" qualify for a half point? Next time I'm not going to be in attendance I'll leave a bag of chips the week before to earn my half point then... I thought you at least had to show up for the ride or beers after for the 1/2 !!!

  2. Jeremy...I am in full agreement...no 1/2 point for leaving a bag of chips. That would set a ridiculous precedent. No way...Nah..uh... Notta...niet!

As for beer...I will not be there for perhaps a few weeks. I leave some beer for you guys to enjoy in my absence.

BTW ...My newer light is not for rent while I am gone as I may be taking my bike with me.

See y'all on Sunday at the best damn party this side of Ali's!

  3. Gentle men,
Relax! Do NOT get your dirty knickers tied up in knots regarding the eligibility of 1/2 a point for chips!

The chips were there for you guys to enjoy & have something to munch on & replenish your salt after what i thought would be a hard ride in the hot weather! Apparently the ride was half ass & messed up!- & to my surprise Jeremy -the "stud boy" had trouble keeping up! - & Liam, what? - half a ride??? - another quickie, i suppose!!!

So, no half point for me! - as my understanding of the "constitution" is that u have to be there in person after the ride to have a beer &/or shit shat with the boys!

btw - that big bag counted as 2 bags!!!

-& u r all welcome for the delicious chips!

    Cheers!

  5. Hey Guys,

Also, fyi, i did ride yesterday evening; however my time straddled yours, as i rode between 5.50 to 7.00pm so as to attend a scheduled commitment @ 7.30pm!

I rode the Malden section & had an excellent ride ---& did not chicken out when the clouds started looking somewhat "different"/slightly overcast!

-& i did NOT see matt anywhere at Malden! -- so it appears that he perhaps was taking a nap somewhere! -is he getting any points???

-& how the heck did this happen - i.e. mark & matt riding separately???!!! - generally, these two dudes are in a conspiracy & making us chase their tails & eventually "disappearing" for a while!

Anyway, my point/case is that i should get a FULL point for riding yesterday & an additional 1/2 a pint for completing the ride as opposed to high tailing home due to some so called dark clouds/skies!

So, Craig, "the attendance & recording Secretary", pl. adjust the attendance accordingly!- No - there is no need for the committee to meet as i believe i have made a very sound case for my position!

    Cheers!

    Cheers!

  6. I was in fact at Malden for 15 climbs and there was absolutely no sign of Ali. Jeremy did join me for some hills and yes Jay is still gay (not that there is anything wrong with that). It was nice to see everyone fired up last night and again today on the blog.

  7. sorry to join the discussion so late but I had to have a nap after my first full day (ok, half day) of work in over two months. So no 1/2 point.
