For the first time in CRC history we went off in two different directions. Some chose to test the waters (literally) on the trails. While others chose to put in a real workout on the road. Those on the road did about the same distance and speed. We even got to witness Dave's new road riding ability and we may have to remove the "wobbly" from Dave's name and give it to..... However, we can't remove the "crash" from Dave's name as he provided us with the first crash of the year within minutes of mounting his bike. Jeremy provided us with the second crash of the year shortly after.

The girls on the trails found Morton to be very wet and Malden to be rideable. It was nice to see some new faces. Smitty showed up for beers (but no half-point) and Jim and Liam showed up late for their rides. Both gave us some song and dance about the rides they did instead. It was amazing though that nobody bumped into them, hhhhmmmm......
Thanks to Rodney for the cold beers and Ali for his no-no-name ass-flavoured chips. Since we had so many guys out we may have to address the beer order. Next up is Jim (plus speech) and our first Jacques night of the year. If you think of it, bring some chips.
Remember kids, when you fall off a paceline you need to 'fall off'. It is not the job of the next rider to pass you. It is their job to do exactly the same speed as when you were in front of them. Fall off to windward and soft pedal - rotate the pedals with no torque to the cranks. The sooner you get shelter at the back the better off you are! If we are in double paceline, then each rider signals and falls off their respective sides. I'll make the lot of you roadies before long!
ReplyDeleteIf you want to come out of the hidden shelter of the draft and ride some hills at a decent pace, feel free and then decide who the girl's are. Funny how Jeremy and I are the ones who are the ones not doing a "real workout" I think we averaged the same as you pussies and we were in trails and on hills:) I hear the Dollarama has "ass" and "really ass" flavoured chips on sale.
