Sun Belle River Ride

Anyone interested in riding out to Belle River meet at my house by 9am. We can ride out to see a bit of the Tri, then ride either over to Rob's for a pop, or/and back to my house for a swim and pop. Either way, good times.

Welcome Overgrown Trails and Mosquitos.... But Hello Swims After Riding

It wasn't the heat that did us in tonight (except for Mr. Heat himself.... Jay), it was the overgrown trail conditions.  Morton wasn't bad but Malden is in horrendous shape.  I would even say that it is not rideable.  Something will need to be done very soon or you can forget riding at Malden.  We did manage 27 km in 1:37.  At least those that didn't turn back early (no names but their initials are DG, RL, JM, JC, LH).  It was also nice to see a new face out there tonight.  "Rocket" finally gets on the board for an attendance point.
Then it was off to Ian's for a swim and great food.  Plus we got a lot accomplished regarding a name.  Check the vote on the blog and choose the name that you like the most.  This name will stick with us so let's make it a good one.  If you have a better suggestion, send it out for approval (Jay) and I will add it to the vote.
Next up for beer is Mike but since he is not riding, we can skip him and go to Liam.  BTW, our first ride last year was May 20 so we are doing pretty good to have 7 Wednesday in already.

All Aboard the Mousseau/Jacques Train......... and some fast dude we met

Well, wet trail conditions led us to previously unheard circumstances.... another road ride.  Tough ride this week, 47.5 km in 1:37 (or if you got lost 50 km in 1:42).  Not only was that farther than last week but it was also faster thanks to Mark and Matt who led us out most of the way, as well as the other guy who led out some wicked pace (45 kph for a very long stretch).  There was even some talk about making this a somewhat regular thing.
Nice to see Liam back in the fold.  Although Liam did not ride, his intentions were clear and he did show up after.  There was heated debate whether he should be awarded a full point, 1/2 point, or no point at all (Ali).  We are venturing into new territory here as far as the constitution is concerned.  When the constitution was written a group road ride was never considered and certainly not what about those riders that don't have road bikes.  We are definitely in need of an immediate amendment.  In the end, Liam was granted his full point, however if he doesn't bring chips next week it will be downgraded to a 1/2.
While the rest of us were sipping down cold ones, Mark was hard at work with coming up with our club name.  He came up with many interesting choices that he will be informing us about.  If you have any suggestion, fire away.  Just as long as they don't have the word "tu**" in it.
Next week, beers at Ian's house.  Weather is supposed to be nice, bring your trunks.

New "Team Radioshack"...... Canadian version

Well, the inevitable finally happened.  Due to slippery trail conditions, saner minds decided that a road ride would be a better way to go tonight.  So tonight was the virgin ride for some new road riders.  Jeremy brought out the "Iron Dragon" for his first ride with it.  While the "Dragon" performed admirably, its lack of hydration may have dampened its true effect.  Rob brought out his sweet Specialized and it performed up to its abilities.  Jacques Jamis was steady as always leading the way.  Jay's "Black Beauty" lived up to its name, however some of its rider's tactics and allegiance to other riders are questioned.  Let's not forget Mr. RPM himself.  Ali was test riding a new bike tonight, opting to forgoe the mountain bike with slicks.  Even Ian earned a full point for showing and riding on his mountain bike on his own.
All in all, a great ride tonight.  41km in 1:27.  It was decided (we had quorom) that future wet weather would bring road rides.  Also, I have inside information of a new road bike being brought into our group (no, not Ali).  Details on that to follow.
Also, it was discussed the need for a name for our group, since we really don't have one.  I am putting it out there for suggestions.
According to Ali, we are good for beer next week, but next up would be Ian in two weeks.

New Proud Daddy

Congratulations to a member of our bike group who welcomes a new addition to his family.  He promises to spend as much time with this new addition as he can.  We can't wait till he can come out and play with the others.

Rain, but the ride is on

Congratulation to those brave souls that ventured out into the wilderness after some mild showers.  How dare Ali think that we weren't riding.  Doesn't he realize that we are married and with kids and dying to get out of the house???? Although trails were a little slick and we couldn't go as fast as we wanted, we covered 23.5 km in 1:23.  A gap is really opening up in the attendance, it is kind of like the have and have nots.... only it is the riders and the wannabes.  Sorry Russ, but a phone call midride does not constitute attendance.  And the first 1/2 point of the year goes to Dave with his fake traffic jam excuse.  Summer plans are finalized.  Next up for beers is Matt.
