The Nights Just Get Better and Better

I am very busy getting ready for another school year so this will be short.

  • Beautiful weather
  • Full crowd - the attendance leader.
  • Great trails: Morton, Malden and the new highway.
  • Good beer and chips
  • Thanks to Ali for hosting and leading the charge in the trails.
Back to school next week for some of us, don't worry we'll be okay.
Michigan game Sept 15th.  Next up for beer is Jim then Scott.

A Nice Night For A Crash!

On probably the nicest night of the year a packed CRC crew took to the trails for an out and back through Morton. The pace was fast and the falls were faster. Jeremy's bike after building great resentment for the Boyne, "Bike Toss", incident a few years back, finally got it's revenge. Jeremy did his best Superman impression over the bars and ended up with a nasty gash on his arm. Later in the ride Mark tried to knock over a tree but did not succeed.

Liam brought a nice assortment of pops and much of the discussion revolved around the upcoming Michigan game on the 15th.

Everyone is looking forward to Ali's next feast and next week could be the end of the perfect attendance for our host.

Thanks to Liam and Mark for providing drink and hospitality.

Michigan Game

Gents,
That time of year is fast approaching again!  Lets try to make plans to go to our annual game before everyone's schedules are set.... that way we can have a descent turnout.

Looking at the schedule, these two home games look like our only options really:  Both have the late 3:30 start time giving us plenty of time to tailgate.

Saturday September 8th - 3:30PM start vs Air Force
Saturday September 15th - 3:30PM start vs Massachusetts

I'll start the voting....  September 15th works better for me... but I would still go even on the 8th.

Then There Were Four

Four dedicated riders hit the trails for a fast paced ride. Ali led a nice pace clad in his new boys sized shorts. We hit a tacky Morton and then took on the Malden race course (which Mark and Jeremy quickly fell in love with) and concluded with, "The Hill." (insert accent).

Upon our arrival no one showed with chips but Mark laid out a feast fit for a kingdom. Jeremy, Mark and myself gorged on salads, meats and cheeses. Mark ended our night with some ice cream!  Up for beer next week is Liam.  Just a reminder, it is an import week so Stella, Guiness, Bass would all suffice.

Did You Bring a Tube With You?????

Rob smiling because he just made a lot of money
It was an unfortunate lesson in supply and demand tonight (or as Dave calls it, "mountain bike economics") for one unprepared CRC rider.  Helmet? Check.  Shoes? Check.  Water?  Check.  Extra tube and pump? Che......  nope!  Instead this rider would rather pay outrageous trailside prices for a tube, pump, and tire lever (I know it was only needed it for a second, but remember, we charge by the hour) when he gets a flat.
Fortunately for Jeremy I just happened to have my phone handy when he came down with an "illness" and couldn't ride.  Hhhhhmmmmm...... let's see, Jeremy has missed 2 rides in 2 years and suddenly he is sick on probably the only night he has to bring beer.  Isn't that convenient Adrian.... I mean Jeremy?  Lucky for him I stepped up and covered him.
View waiting for the tire to be changed
How the mighty have fallen.  In one night 3 of the 4 top attendance earners missed out.  And they missed out on a ton of singletrack.  Morton twice.  However, my computer said only 23 km.  It must have been a fast 23 km though as both Jim and Scotty went down.

Next up for beer is Jeremy (unless he is "sick" again), then Rod (but I am guessing he is done for the season), Liam, Jim.  Don't forget Jacquesfest Olympic-style this Friday!

Hot!

A hot night tonight.  It was amazing that Mr. Heat didn't pay a visit.  Good ride for most of us.  Mousseau mysteriously disappears to "ride the race course" only to be found sipping on a cold one at Mark's.  The rest of the group got divided up.  Those that chose to follow Ali, and those that chose not to.  I won't say what group I was in but lets just say I was among the last to return to Mark's.  At least we hit 30km tonight.
Rumour has it that many CRC members high on the attendance list will be dropping a few spots in the coming weeks.....except Jeremy of course.  Next up for beers is Jeremy.  Then we are back to the top.  Rod then Liam.
